Distance: 20 miles in 8 hours
There is no timekeeping, there are no failures, we only recognize the incredible courage it takes to rise to our challenge. Every participant completing the distance will be awarded with their finisher medal and considered a winner!
Starting time: Several starting slots available from 7:30 a.m. You can choose from specific time slots with limited capacity when signing up. This ensures the most remote hiking experience as a maximum of 5 participants cross the starting line at the same time. The first hikers will start as early as 7:30 a.m. with the majority coming back in just about 8 hours. However, we will have our finish line open for the ones that need a bit more time.
Venue (start/finish): Howe Meadow/Countryside Farmers' Market, 4040 Riverview Rd, Peninsula, OH 44264
Parking: Complimentary parking will be available on site.
Aid/refreshment stations: There are up to four aid stations along the route (approximately positioned every 5-7 miles apart) providing toilets, food and drinks for all participants. These refreshments are included in the cost of your ticket. The refreshments will vary between refreshment stations, providing water, coffee, tea, isotonic drinks, fruits, cereal bars, etc.
Certificates: All finishers receive their personalized certificate after crossing the finish line. For the ones who drop out, we issue certificates stating the mileage covered.
Finisher medal/wall of fame: For all participants finishing MammothMarch.
Hiking Pass: MammothMarch Hiking Passes will be made available for all new participants. All participants from a previous edition or different MammothMarch events should bring their Hiking Pass to collect their 2023 stamps on site.
Merchandise: Our full 2023 merchandise collection will be launched soon – stay tuned! Check out our current items in the meantime right here.
Route: Our single-circuit loop covers 20 miles of National Park beauty. Please check out our 2022 route right here. This year’s final route will be revealed a few weeks before the event but won’t differ much from last year’s.
Total elevation gain: Around 1,700 ft.
Terrain: Mainly unpaved hiking trails, dirt trails, gravel roads, forest floor with a small stretch along the Towpath (less than 2 mi. in total).
