Weather
It’s nearly impossible to predict the weather these days less than a few hours ahead of time. We are always in constant exchange with all entities involved and everything is on schedule for MammothMarch! There is - always - a chance of inclement weather during our events, simply because it's a full-day outdoor activity, even if the forecast looks fine. Please pack accordingly!
We have several options in case of inclement weather (e.g. postponing the start if we experience severe weather in the morning hours or cutting short later throughout the day).
Please check our our Participant Guide for all other questions: https://bit.ly/3Oi1KEK
Saturday, June 3 | Kettle Moraine State Forest
The Ice Age Trail is calling your name, and we are thrilled to host our first MammothMarch edition in Wisconsin! Hike 20 miles in 8 hours or 30 miles in 12 hours along one of only 11 National Scenic Trails in the country.
Located less than an hour north of Milwaukee, we will call the Northern Kettle Moraine State Forest home for one day. Our single-circuit 20- & 30-mile hiking loops cover everything the 30,000 acres of rolling hills, lakes, and forests have to offer.
Mastering our challenge, you will be exhausted, but proud and happy... as well as part of our amazing community of nature-lovers, hikers and MammothMarch addicts!

Distance: 20 miles in 8 hours or 30 miles in 12 hours
There is no timekeeping, there are no failures, we only recognize the incredible courage it takes to rise to our challenge. Every participant completing the distance will be awarded with their finisher medal and considered a winner!
Starting time: Several starting slots available from 6:30 a.m (30-milers) and 7 am (20-milers). You can choose from specific time slots with limited capacity when signing up. This ensures the most remote hiking experience as a maximum of 5 participants cross the starting line at the same time. The majority will come back in just about 8 hours (20-miles) or 12 hours (30-miles). However, we will have our finish line open for the ones that need a bit more time.
Venue (start/finish):
Mauthe Lake Recreation Area, N 1490 County Road GGG, Campbellsport, WI 53010.
Alternative address (leading to the same spot, our venue): Mauthe Lake IAT Parking, Campbellsport, WI 53010.
Parking: Complimentary parking will be available on site
Aid/refreshment stations: There are 3-4 aid stations along the route (approximately positioned every 5-7 miles apart) providing toilets, food and drinks for all participants. These refreshments are included in the cost of your ticket. The refreshments will vary between refreshment stations, providing water, coffee, tea, isotonic drinks, fruits, cereal bars, etc.
Certificates: All finishers receive their personalized certificate after crossing the finish line. For the ones who drop out, we issue certificates stating the mileage covered.
Finisher medal/wall of fame: For all participants finishing MammothMarch.
Merchandise: Our 2023 merchandise collection can be viewed right here: https://raceroster.com/store/71178/listing. Pre-orders are available until around three weeks before the event, but we will also have merchandise on site (while stocks last).
Route: The 20-miler is a single-circuit loop covering all the beauty the Northern Kettle Moraine State Forest has to offer with a great portion leading along the Ice Age Trail. Our 30-mile participants will finish the same 20-miles and head out for an extra 10 mile-loop, covering completely new terrain. The final routes will be made available around 2 weeks prior to the event.
Total elevation gain: Around 1,000 ft. (20-miler), around 1,400 ft. (30-miler)
Terrain: A great mix of everything - paved and unpaved hiking trails, dirt trails, gravel roads and forest floor.
