We are thrilled to be back at Oak Mountain State Park for another double-header of MammothMarch Alabama!

Join us on either April 10 or 11, 2027, for yet another magical 20-mile hiking adventure inside Alabama’s largest State Park.

Located just 30 minutes south of Birmingham, one of our most scenic hikes offers almost 10,000 acres of stunning physical landscape, and our co-host, Shelby County, welcomes you for an unforgettable hiking weekend getaway.

Master the challenge and spend a beautiful day hiking 20 miles at a stretch. Getting your finisher medal, you will be exhausted but proud and happy... as well as part of our amazing community of nature-lovers, hikers and MammothMarch addicts!

Dates: Saturday, April 10 & Sunday, April 11, 2027

 

Location (start/finish): Oak Mountain State Park – South Trail Head, 200 Terrace Dr, Pelham, AL 35124

The Park entrance fee is already included in your ticket; just present your ticket when entering through the Park gates.

Distance: 20 miles in 8 hours There is no timekeeping, there are no failures, we only recognize the incredible courage it takes to rise to our challenge. Every participant completing the distance will be awarded their finisher medal and considered a winner!

Starting time: You can choose from several time slots as early as 7:00 a.m. with limited capacity when signing up. This ensures the most remote hiking experience as a maximum of 5 hikers will cross the starting line at the same time. The first ones will head out between 7:00 a.m. – 7:15 a.m. with the majority coming back in just about 8 hours. With the majority coming back in just about 8 hours, we will have our finish line open for the ones that need a bit more time. There will be a cut-off time at either aid station – safety first!

Lodging/Accommodation: … details will follow in due course.

Parking: Complimentary parking will be available on site.

Aid/refreshment stations: There are water stops and aid stations along the route (approximately positioned every 5-7 miles apart) providing toilets, food, and drinks for all participants. These refreshments are included in the cost of your ticket and vary between each station, offering water, energy drinks, electrolytes, fruits, cereal/protein bars, PBJ sandwiches and more.

Certificates: All finishers will receive their personalized certificate after crossing the finish line. For the ones who drop out, we will issue certificates stating the mileage covered.

Finisher medal/wall of fame: For all participants finishing MammothMarch.

Hiking Pass: MammothMarch Hiking Passes will be made available for all new participants. All participants from previous editions or different MammothMarch events should bring their Hiking Pass to collect their 2027 stamps on site.

Please note: The difference between the Raceroster event store and our official online store is that we will ship your items ordered in our official online store while products added during your registration or later through Raceroster will be ready for pick up on event day.

Route: The single-circuit loop covers 20 miles along beautiful and remote trails inside Oak Mountain State Park. The final route will be made available around 2 weeks prior to the event. Take a look at our 2026 hiking route right here.

Total elevation gain: Around 2,300 ft.

Terrain: Mainly unpaved hiking trails, dirt trails, gravel roads and forest floor.
