MammothMarch is coming to St. Louis, Missouri!
Hike 20 miles in 8 hours through the remote Weldon Spring Conservation Area, along a great mixture of diverse trails, such as Katy Trail, Lewis & Clark Trail, featuring superb overlooks of the Missouri River.


Our single-circuit hiking loop starts and finishes at the Defiance Ridge Vineyards, just half an hour west of St. Louis.


Mastering our challenge, you will be exhausted but proud and happy... as well as part of our fantastic community of nature lovers, hikers, and MammothMarch addicts!

Date: Sunday, September 10, 2023

 

Distance: 20 miles in 8 hours. There is no timekeeping and no failures; we only recognize the incredible courage it takes to rise to our challenge. Every participant completing the distance will be awarded their finisher medal and considered a winner!

​

Starting time: Several starting slots are available starting at 7:15 a.m. You can choose from specific time slots with limited capacity when signing up. This ensures the most remote hiking experience as a maximum of 5 participants cross the starting line simultaneously. The first hikers will start as early as 7:15 a.m., with the majority returning in about 8 hours. However, we will have our finish line open for the ones that need a bit more time.

Venue (start/finish): Defiance Ridge Vineyards, 2711 S Missouri 94, Defiance, MO 63341

 

Parking: Parking will be available on-site.

​

Aid stations: Up to three aid stations along the route (approximately positioned every 5-7 miles apart) provide toilets, food, and drinks for all participants. These refreshments are included in the cost of your ticket. The refreshments will vary between refreshment stations, providing water, coffee, tea, isotonic drinks, fruits, cereal bars, etc. 

​

Certificates: All finishers receive their personalized certificate after crossing the finish line. We issue certificates stating the mileage covered for those who drop out.

 

Finisher medal/wall of fame: For all participants finishing MammothMarch. 

​

Hiking Pass: MammothMarch Hiking Passes will be available to all new participants. All participants from a different MammothMarch event should bring their Hiking Pass to collect their stamps on site.

​

Merchandise: Our 2023 merchandise collection can be viewed right here:  Pre-orders are available until around two weeks before the event, but we will also sell merchandise on-site (while stocks last).

​

Route: The single-circuit loop leads through Weldon Springs Conservation Area, along various trails, such as Hamburg Trail, Lewis & Clark Trail, Katy Trail.

Total elevation gain: Around 1,100 ft.

Terrain: A great mixture of paved and unpaved hiking trails, dirt trails, gravel roads, and forest floors.

Please note that the preliminary route may be adjusted due to weather issues, official directives, and/or organizational matters. The route will be marked 1-2 days prior to event day. Should we notice parts of the route being inaccessible or extremely wet/muddy, we will adapt it to local conditions at short notice.
